Summer 2008

February 2010

I am in the beginning stages of many things....the foremost being that i am at the start of a new decade for myself. My how time flies! It is wonderful to be at a place where i can look back over the decades and really see how many life lessons I have learned. It's hard to believe that it was 17 years ago that I bought my first guitar and started writing songs...it was 10 years ago that lack of inspiration forced me to put the pen down, shift gears and enter the realm of traditional music. Now, the two worlds are meeting, a little bit, anyway. In my next album, "House of Memory", in addition to recording some covers and traditional songs I am also going to be recording one of my own songs! So, the recording is underway. Kat Eggleston is producing my song, "For Genevieve" and Kate MacLeod's song, "New Homeland", here in Seattle. Mike Kirkpatrick, my "sometime" music partner is producing the majority of the album in Chicago. It's great to be in the studio again where time really flies! Gigs are happening more on a regular basis again. (The Mummiger is hustling like crazy for the summer months! Thanks, Mum!) After a bit of a break I am glad to be out and about sharing the music that I love. I hope to see you soon!

All the best,

Rose

Passion inspires me. It always has. The first time I ever experienced passion with music was when I was a senior in high school. The calculus teacher, Mike Culver performed for our class. Okay, I wasn’t in calculus but my friend’s were and I was able to join them. Culver was and still is a folk musician. Little did he know that he would be one of the first of many inspirations for my folk musical journey. His passion is what did it. I told myself that day, “I want to do what he does!” Culver came to a gig this year. I hadn’t seen him in about 21 years. He played some music for me after the gig and do you know what, he still sings with the same passion that I remembered. How cool is that? Thanks for the inspiration, Culver!

p.s. incidentally, he is also a photographer and jeweler (click myspace for the new photos) and revluc.etsy.com/ is his jewelry page.

I am delighted to announce some really wonderful news about "The Chicago Sessions". It was chosen by the Chicago Music Commission to be a part of "Terminal Tunes", a program that supports local Chicago musicians and plays them in all terminals of Chicago O'Hare and Midway airports. If you're waiting for a flight there, you might just hear me singing a song! It wa also chosen by the City of Seattle to be part of their telephone hold music, "Seattle On Hold".

Lots of shows coming up for the summer. Hope to see you soon!

Happy Spring!

Boy, is it that time again?
Yes, it is Autumn 2008 and time for me to check in with you all again. I’m in the throes of promoting my current cd, "The Chicago Sessions", to a MASSIVE number of community radio stations around the globe. I can’t take credit for doing this all myself though, or even much of it. In my small folk music business operation called, Ramblin’ Rose Records, it is my wonderful mother, known as “The Mummiger” who handles the packaging up and sending off and tracking of all my cds. Without her, I wouldn’t be able to promote to the extent that I do. I know my mom does this for me because she believes in this music and the art form!
I think people are hungry for stories that connect the past and the present. The stories are simply poetry in motion. Throughout the gigs of this past year there have been times where I have noticed people, at coffeehouses, for example, that might not have been there for the music, suddenly are curious about what it is they are hearing. Traditional song is powerful.
I hope you might take the time to listen to the tracks we have on the site. And, if you decide you like it enough to buy it…know that your purchase is greatly appreciated!

All the best,
Rose

Happy summer to all of you!
I believe summer is finally in Seattle, we've had some lovely days and I hope there will be more to come! My new recording, "The Chicago Sessions" is here! Mike and I will be doing a Pacific Northwest tour to promote it July 22-July 27, see "upcoming shows" page for details. You may purchase it via this website or at www.cdbaby.com.
I am also thrilled to be playing at Wolf Haven in Tenino, Wa. a couple times this summer. Wolf Haven is a sanctuary for wolves that can no longer live in the wild. I visited once, years ago, and am thrilled to be going back and playing music amidst these gorgeous animals (www.wolfhaven.org) and people that love them! Keep well and hope to see you this summer!

Happy Spring!
My news.....For St. Patirck's week, Mike Kirkpatrick and I played at Seattle's Irish Fest, which was hosted by the Irish Club of Seattle, thanks Ralph! It was really wonderful to play with Mike again!...since I last updated my "news", I have relocated to Seattle, and Mike remains in Chicago. We're hopeful that we will still be able to play together from time to time....and with a couple quick pick up rehearsals we were in fine form for our show! Lots of fun shows in the near future...a couple of boutique wineries..and the northwest folklife festival, and, of course the local coffee houses, which is where music for the folk abounds! When Mike was in town I got to hear the rough cuts of "The Chicago Sessions", the recording that he and I recorded in September 2007. It's coming along really nicely, it will be distinctly different from my last cd, with Mike as producer, and a good representation of what he and I worked on as a duo. Enjoy the spring!!

Hi! I thought I would add a little "news" section to my website....I am currently in the studio working with duo partner and producer, Michael Kirkpatrick. The next album will be the Celtic / Americana songs that he and I have performed the past couple of years as a duo....I'm thinking the album title will be, "The Chicago Sessions"...but stay tuned...one never knows.

Last month we played at Milwaukee Irish Fest's Celtic Roots stage, which was a delight. In addition to Mike, guitarist and singer Kat Eggleston and fiddler, Devin Shepherd sat in on a few numbers. We all had a ball...despite the torrential downpour!!!!

In July I was included on a compilation cd for an Indie Radio station, called Red Truck Radio. This station is a true labor of love by the talented Charlotte Ryerson. She has such passion for music and does such good for the folk community by promoting Indie artists! Thanks a million, Charlotte!!!!

Thank you for visiting my site and for your interest in my music. All the best for a wonderful autumn!
